Building on the Promise

Matthew 25: 34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

The Parable of the Good Samaritan teaches important lessons about caring for our neighbors. The Samaritan shows love by attending to the injured man's immediate needs by cleaning and dressing his wounds and carrying him to a place of refuge. Then, in an extravagant, generous act of care, the Samaritan goes beyond the immediate and pays the innkeeper for needs not yet known.

"Take care of this man. If you spend more money on him, I will pay it back to you when I come again."

The incredible gift of assuring someone's future will be brighter and their ongoing needs will be met is the mission of the Hendersonville Samaritan Association.

Building On the Promise

The Hendersonville Samaritan Association has been building on Christ's command to go and do as the Samaritan did throughout its history. Since its beginning more than forty years ago, HSA has been the good neighbor, the Good Samaritan, addressing our neighbors' immediate needs with specific caring services. Like the Good Samaritan, HSA follows through with additional services to ensure ongoing needs are met.

First established as the Community Pastors Association, the organization became the Hendersonville Samaritan Association in 1994. HSA has helped thousands of individuals with their need over the years, and provided opportunity for countless others to serve this community as a good neighbor, as a Good Samaritan, through their gifts of time, money, service and goods.
